和室何適是一個討論身份認同的空間裝置。我利用和室-台灣典型的後殖民符號製造了一個12平方公尺的空間。在這個狹窄的空間裡面有20扇拉門與7件物品跟一位表演者。觀眾可以透過這些物件與表演進入一個住在“幻象之島“ (註一)一個家庭三個女性橫跨三代的故事。觀眾在此空間能夠產生不同的體驗感。例如:設計在這個空間裡面有20扇拉門。觀眾在進入這個空間為自己選擇路線的時候,就有可能會將其他觀眾的通路給關閉。或是透過物件與搭配的手冊去理解三代女性不同的故事。去看見他們不同的身份,他們的疑慮,矛盾與衝突,勇敢和恐懼。 另為搭配現場的表演者,觀眾會突然從在博物館的體驗中轉成沈浸展演空間中。

In this Japanese-style room, the audience experiences the story of a family living on the Island of Illusions, in Taiwan. The objects in space and the sliding doors interweave three different stories of women of the same family, shaped by different national identities, their doubts, internal conflicts, bravery and fear. The accompanying catalogue enables the audience to move through the exhibition, as if gazing upon a documentary exhibition. At the same time the opening and closing of the sliding doors creates a spatial change between the present audience members. Occasionally a performer enters the room at distinct moments, after which the viewers find themselves in an immersive theater space. I created this spatial variability to provide a diverse and multifaceted viewing experience for the audience.
